Who we are

Jeff Markette

Jeff grew up in the Bitterroots, is a graduate of the University of Montana, and an alumni of the PEAS farm. He has years of experience with vegetable production, fueled by a lifelong passion for good food. As a participant in rodeo and cattle operations, he’s also handled livestock and managed pastures with a regenerative perspective. He most recently worked as the farm manager at a farmer training program in Washington where he was responsible for teaching and modeling the practices of Regenerative Agriculture on a production farm.

Whitney Heitzman

Whitney graduated college with a degree in Philosophy and was craving doing physical, meaningful work which took her to a sheep dairy on Whidbey Island. Her quiver of skills grew for years as she worked at vegetable farms, ski areas, construction sites, and most recently a plant nursery. She is passionate about small businesses in rural areas, a decentralized food system, hard work, and getting to know your neighbors. She is a Certified Professional Horticulturist and is passionate about all plants - edible or not!

You can find us skiing, mountain biking, hanging out with our dogs, reading, or cooking when we aren’t farming!
